A log Bird feeder is a great way to attract birds that are clinger feeders to your backyard, especially woodpeckers, nuthatches and chickadees.
The holes are oriented to possibly allow several birds to feed at a time. Filling the holes in the log feeder with mix is a fun hands-on activity for children.
Unsalted peanut butter (or suet) can be mixed with seeds, nuts and fruit, making high energy food for birds. It is especially useful during winter months, when naturally occurring seeds and fruit are scarce.
We use a combination of 50% unsalted peanut butter and 50% bird seed.
