Unique summer

Updated: Jan 25, 2021

How are all of you doing this very different, unique summer?

We had the opportunity to do a beautiful sunset kayak/canoe trip on Somes Pond. The fellow that ran it is a good fiend and extremely knowledgable about all things nature. We saw several eagles, loons (mom, dad and immature loon), osprey and sparrows. We all social distance from each other and wore face mask when near anyone. One of the blessings of living in Maine and specifically on Mount Desert Island, is the chance to get out in nature. While we were enjoying the tranquil water mirroring the beautiful trees around us the sky gave us an amazing show as well. Clouds were spanning the sky letting colors of blue, pink and orange peek through. As the sun began to set one expansive cloud gave us the gift of a silver lining! This seemed very applicable to this time.

It is very difficult during this time of isolation. I personally have to work not to worry about many things (rightfully so). But, in the midst of all of this it is good for our soul to find the silver lining in our lives. Some of my silver linings this summer are, having family visit for an extended period of time, one of our daughters beautiful simple wedding on the beach, hikes, ocean walks, damselflies visiting and landing on me while I sit along the stream that goes through our property. These are just a few of the things to be thankful of. What are your silver linings? What are you thankful for?
